We believe that anyone can change their future, when someone is there to assist in rebuilding our character! We were not born murderers, drug dealers, gang banging, women beaters or unworthy of all the good life has to offer. All we have to do is commit to learning something new, that will help us help ourselves and change our own lives. This Academy is for those that are seeking change and those men wanting to reconnect to their children and become a real Black man and then a real dad!  Raising Black children is a real responsibility! We are a one of a kind program in the nation. This program was founded, is managed and operated by Black men, who are experienced fathers in communities of color aka fathers from the "hood". We understand all of the challenges of Black men, because we are Black men. We understand all of the challenges of Black fathers, because we are Black fathers! Some of us had no father in our lives. Some of us were very poor fathers with children. Some of us spent many years in prison and loss contact with our responsibilities, as men and as fathers. Some of us had no positive role model in our lives, but we all had a desire to change our circumstances and come to grips with ourselves, that we need to change and we can help get each other better and save the life styles of self and family! Mostly all of us have been written off to failure, death and destruction. We decided that we need to make our changes in a loving, understanding and supportive environment, that use our own legacies and cultural norms, that is natural to us, that we can understand and relate to, in order that we are being our naturals selves. Loving, caring and responsible Black men, with children and a family to lead, in our own communities. This Academy does not have every answer, but this Academy give us a great start and is for anyone wanting to come into the light, out of the darkness. We learn how to love ourselves, take care of self and our families and we learn to deliver the most important support to our children. The moral, emotional and social supports, that make our children who they are and who they will become! The founder of this Academy, Antonio Celester, came up with an amazing Seven Core Program Concepts ,for Black men, that drives the foundation of this Academy.  Since the founding of the Academy in Boston, Massachusetts in 1994, the founder stayed with his dreams, despite negative drawbacks and unable to get funds to fuel his Academy. The founder used his own funds, did fund raisers and made personal sacrifices to keep his academy idea going. In 2010, the founder convinced, overwhelmingly, the State of Massachusetts, Department of Children and Families,(DCF), formerly the Department of Social Services,(DSS), to include his proposal, for a all Black father and fragile family support model, as part of the departments network of services for families in Massachusetts. Prior to this proposal, Massachusetts had never had a program that only assisted one segment of people in its history. This State desperately needed a way to assist black men, who played a major role in open cases around the State. One month after celebrating adding the Black men's Academy to their family network support services, the State and the country went into a recession. However, this did not take away from the Academy breaking the mold on culturally competent family support assistance in Massachusetts. The program reviewers told the founder "we love this program model" speaking about the Academy. The founder hosted Black fathers forums on the neighborhood television networks, spoke on local radio programs about the program and father issues. Created videos and authored books, one on the Academy's Core Program Concepts. The Academy if here to stay! We have partnered with Boss Mobility Life Coaches, located in California, to bring a complete service to those in and around the great state of California, under the leadership of Brian K Hill.  The Mission of Mobility Life Coach Services is to inform and empower people. Our goal is to inspire them to own their dreams.
